Our Push Towards Recyclable Plastic Pots

The propagation team have been busy working this week potting up herbaceous plants into new Taupe pots.

These new pots are the same size and strength as a normal black pot the difference is that they are becoming recognised by local authorities to be recyclable. Taken from the Horticultural trades association plastic pot initiative paper here is a little more information about Taupe pots.

"The Taupe Pot is a polypropylene pot which can be produced by any plastic plant pot manufacturer with the capability to fulfil the required specification. The pot is 100% recyclable and made from as high a percentage of recycled polypropylene (PP) as possible, frequently from a UK source, with little or no virgin material. The pot is designed to be kerbside recyclable where possible and replace the traditional black plastic plant pot currently favoured as an industry standard by ornamental plant producers."

At Meadow Grange we are moving our production over to the Taupe range, firstly we are using up existing stocks of black pots and trays but over the next 2 years we hope to be using the new Taupe pots for all that we grow.
